Firm Overview

buildingAfter practicing with a number of other area attorneys for more than 25 years, Mary Louise Parker established the law firm of Mary Louise Parker and Associates, LLC (“MLPA”) in February 2006, and, in March 2009, it moved to its current location at 900 Scott Street in Stroudsburg.

Located just a few blocks from the Monroe County Courthouse and near the major transportation arteries in the area – Routes 80, 209 and 611 – the firm is conveniently located to serve clients in Monroe and the surrounding counties of Northeast Pennsylvania.

Since establishing the firm in February 2006, Attorney Parker has mentored a number of young associates who have gone on to successful careers elsewhere.

From the firm’s inception, the members of MLPA have dedicated considerable time and resources to the service and representation of family law clients. With their considerable experience in representing clients in divorce and other matrimonial matters, Attorney Parker and her staff understand that many types of legal matters impact families in different, but significant ways. The purchase or sale of a home, the adoption of a child, the pursuit of a claim for an injured loved one, protecting an incapacitated family member with a guardianship, fulfilling estate planning needs – Attorney Parker regards these and many others as family law matters, making MLPA a true general practice firm.

After years of representing clients in contested matters which often result in litigation and court appearances, in February 2005, Attorney Parker accepted a position as a Custody Conciliator with the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas. As a Custody Conciliator, Attorney Parker meets with parents and other individuals who are responsible for the care of children and assists them in trying to reach an out-of-court settlement of custody disputes.

In recent years, Attorney Parker has obtained training and certification in mediation and collaborative practice. In interviewing prospective clients, Attorney Parker considers it to be her professional responsibility to provide them with information regarding the alternative dispute resolution methods that are available to them.

With that in mind, Attorney Parker formed Legal Choices, LLC in 2014 to enable her to broaden the scope of mediation and collaborative services available to her clients.
